Our Values

1. Proclaiming God in a fallen world

The presbytery’s primary focus is to encourage congregations to proclaim God’s glory and mercy through church planting, church growth, ministries of mercy, reconciliation, and encouragement of the members.

  1. We value churches that are intentional in making disciples, teaching all that Christ commanded.
  2. We value churches that look beyond their own congregations to see the community where God has placed them.
  3. We value churches that care for their own members through various ministries in the local church.

2. Unity

The churches in the presbytery are united by a common call to serve God through worship, discipleship, outreach, and mercy, and therefore we value cooperation among churches, mutual support and encouragement, accountability, teaching and discipline among our elders. We will strive for doctrinal purity and obedience to God’s Word through our dependence on the gracious ministry of the Holy Spirit. We anticipate unity and peace as the result of God’s humbling and reforming us to Christ.

  1. We value churches that are connectional in their philosophy, refraining from a spirit of independence.
  2. We value churches that encourage both teaching and ruling elders to engage in the work and fellowship of the presbytery.
  3. We value churches that care for one another by encouraging a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as essential for unity.
  4. We value churches that adhere to the Reformed faith in a manner that builds up one another in the faith.

3. Grace

The Gospel addresses our deepest needs by revealing our abject spiritual poverty yet profound riches lavished on us in Christ. The Gospel humbles us in our need and provision, spurs us to action, comforts us in difficulty, and guides our interactions with each other. Since God, in grace, has called us unconditionally, we can rest in knowing that his will shall be done, and we can serve each other in humility as God advances His kingdom through our successes and failures.

  1. We value churches that faithfully seek to proclaim the Gospel to believers as well as to unbelievers through their various ministries
  2. We value churches that desire to see new congregations formed that likewise promote God’s grace.
  3. We value churches that seek not their own glory, but the glory which alone belongs to God for all He has done for us because of Christ.
